5 Easy Recipes for Detoxifying your Home

Replacing your household cleaning products is one of the easiest and most affordable steps you can take in eliminating harmful toxins and synthetic chemicals from your home. Many common cleaning products you buy at the supermarket contain ingredients known to disrupt our hormones, irritate our skin and respiratory system, and deplete our immune function

When it comes to DIY, I like quick and easy, using ingredients I already have around the house. These simple recipes are a great way to get started and will only take you a couple of minutes to make.

Hand Sanitiser

  • 30ml glass spray bottle

  • 1 tsp vegetable glycerine (can substitute with fractionated coconut oil)

  • 15 drops On Guard Essential Oil

  • Top with filtered water

Multipurpose Cleaning Spray

  • 250ml glass spray bottle

  • 1 Tbsp white vinegar

  • 15 drops Lemon Essential Oil

  • Top with filtered water

Bathroom Soft Scrub

  • 3/4 cup baking soda

  • 1/4 cup liquid castile soap

  • 1 Tbsp water

  • 1 Tbsp white vinegar

  • 5 drops Lemon Essential Oil

  • 5 drops On Guard Essential Oil

  • 4 drop Tea Tree Essential Oil

Combine ingredients and store in airtight container. When using, apply to surface and leave to sit for 10 minutes, then scrub and rinse.

Toilet Bombs

  • 1 cup baking soda

  • 1/4 cup citric acid

  • 1 Tbsp liquid castile soap

  • 15 drops Purify or Lemon Essential Oil

Combine ingredients and pack into small silicone molds. You may need to use something as a weight on top to prevent them from rising. Once they have set, store in an airtight jar. To use, drop one bomb into your toilet, leave for 10 minutes then simply give you toilet a gentle scrub and flush.

Air Freshener Spray

  • 30ml glass spray bottle

  • 1 Tbsp witch hazel

  • 15 drops Essential Oil (try WIld Orange, Lemon, Purify or Citrus Bliss)

  • Top with filtered water
